As part of our Discovery Friday programme, 25 students have signed up for the Newmarket School Master Chef competition. For this competition, they will be competing in groups against other students for the title of Newmarket School Master Chef.

The students are expected to plan their meals, right down to timetabling their cooking time, creating their menu and table decorations. They will be working on their organisation and preparation of the event throughout our Discovery Fridays and will receive some cooking lessons that involve the compulsory ingredients (Potatoes for main meal and chocolate for the dessert) to assist them with coming up with their ideas and are encouraged to help with the cooking at home for practice.

Each group has been given a budget of $20.00 to create their meal masterpieces and will go to the supermarket with the teacher in the days leading up to the challenge. This is expected to be in about week 10 of this term.

We ask that students do not bring any main ingredients from home, as this may be unfair for other students who are participating. However, they are welcome to bring ingredients that may be difficult for the school or themselves to attain. For example: special spices.

If you have any queries about the process, event or anything else, don’t hesitate to post your questions on this post! Otherwise, keep checking the blog for more updates and photos :)
